Taco Bell and Decentraland are hosting metaverse wedding
If you are a Taco Bell fan and have ever dreamed about getting married in virtual reality, this could be your lucky day. Taco Bell and Decentraland have collaborated to give one lucky couple the opportunity to get married in the popular decentralized metaverse this fall.
Starting on August 25th until September 6th, engaged couples can apply by submitting a video of why they want to get married in the metaverse, their love story and, definitely, their passion for Taco Bell. Web3’s wedding will be held in Decentraland’s replica of Las Vegas’ Taco Bell Wedding Chapel and Cantina.
Once a couple is chosen, the company works with them to create a special virtual wedding experience, helping them find designer dresses and select an outstanding officiant to celebrate the marriage.
As strange as the project may seem, this is not Taco Bell’s initial foray into unconventional weddings. Since 2017, it has been marrying couples at its Cantina Wedding Chapel in LV. Until now, about 800 couples have been legally married in this place.
The initial virtual wedding is planned for the fall and will include traditional wedding rituals, involving toasts, an initial dance, and the exchanging of vows and rings. The event will be open to invited guests of the couple and some users of the Decentraland metaverse. Besides, the event will be streamed live for users who cannot log in through an avatar.
Following the ceremony, guests are invited to the Cantina where they can socialize, dance, and capture pictures in the photo booth. The marriage will be legally recognized in the United States.
The limits of the metaverse continue to expand
Numerous people have written that almost anything you can do in real life is possible in the metaverse. And much more, this is becoming a reality. In addition to the Taco Bell Wedding on Web 3, we have seen different exclusive events and investments in the metaverse that push the limits of what can be done in virtual worlds.
In several news, it was written about what’s happening in the most popular decentralized metaverses. Below is a list of titles to give you an idea of the variety of projects which have taken place in the metaverse:
• Nissan presents Art and Electric SUV in the Metaverse
• Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and KFC are created Metaverse stores
• ClassDojo uses $125 million to bring kids to the Metaverse
• Puma and Manchester City release Metaverse Kit on Roblox
• MTV Video Music Awards adds “Best Metaverse Performance” category
• Harvard held a class meeting in the Metaverse
• SKT Metaverse Festival releases in South Korea.
As you can see, there is no shortage of activity in the Metaverse, and most of this activity has happened in a bear market.
Surely, marriage in the metaverse is still a novel and bold idea, and it’s appealing that Taco Bell is at the forefront. But we are confident that getting married in Decentraland at Taco Bell’s Virtual Church will be a dream come true for at least one couple out there. We will follow up in the fall to see how the wedding goes.
