A new job listing for the Tesla Bot program says that the company wants to hire “thousands of humanoid robots” to work in its factories.

People don’t take tech companies seriously when they say they are making humanoid robots because science fiction has been telling us for decades that we will have flying cars and robot butlers.

At last year’s Tesla AI Day, when Elon Musk talked about the Tesla Bot program, he brought out a dancer dressed as a robot. Because of this, many people didn’t take him seriously. They thought it was a joke and didn’t believe that Tesla was serious about making a robot that looked like a person.

Musk, on the other hand, made it clear that the humanoid robot project is now the most important thing for Tesla.

Musk said this during an update on the company’s product roadmap for 2022. He said that the company would focus on making the Optimus humanoid robot instead of putting out any new products until 2023.

Musk has said more than once since then that he thinks the general public doesn’t see the potential benefits of the Tesla Bot. He even said it could change the way the world’s economy works.

But Tesla plans to be the best customer for the Optimus robots by putting them to work in its factories. This way, the robots won’t even need customers to show the company how valuable they are.

In a job posting for “Motion Planning & Navigation, Tesla Bot,” Tesla says that it plans to use “thousands of Humanoid Robots” in its factories:

“Tesla is on a path to build humanoid bi-pedal robots at scale to automate repetitive and boring tasks. Core to the Tesla Bot, the motion planning stack presents a unique opportunity to work on state-of-the-art algorithms for motion planning and navigation culminating in their deployment to real world production applications. Our motion planning software engineers develop and own this stack from inception to deployment. Most importantly, you will see your work repeatedly shipped to and utilized by thousands of Humanoid Robots within our factories.”

According to the company, the first Tesla Bot will be designed to do simple tasks over and over again. This makes it a good fit for a manufacturing environment.

On September 30, at AI Day, Tesla will show off the first version of its humanoid robot that works.

Since there is a shortage of workers right now, it is clear that the world would benefit greatly from Tesla making a humanoid robot that works.

We all know that Tesla has been putting a lot of money into AI, and we also know that the company has made a lot of progress in computer vision, which will help the robot.
