a multi-media company An “experienced corporate attorney” is needed by The Walt Disney Company to work on transactions involving cutting-edge technologies like non-fungible tokens (NFTs), blockchain, DeFi (decentralized finance), and the Metaverse. The position was posted on Sunday. As a result, it might soon enter the metaverse.
Co-founder of Ethereum Scaling Solution Polygon, Sandeep Nailwal, tweeted that this was a proof of the industry’s widespread usage.
Disney is seeking a Principal Counsel – Corporate Transactions, Emerging Technologies and NFTs to work on emerging technology transactions encompassing DeFi, NFT and others, according to the job posting on its careers website.
Disney metaverse
Since a few years ago, the entertainment conglomerate has made suggestions for adding theme park metaverse.
In a 2020 LinkedIn post, Tilak Mandadi, the former executive vice president of digital at Disney, discussed building a metaverse theme park where the “physical and digital world converge” using wearable technology and mobile phones.
Although it was only an idea at the time, on December 28 the company was granted a patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office, establishing their right to develop a virtual reality simulator for use in a physical setting.
Bob Chapek, the CEO of Walt Disney, previously indicated that the entertainment company is getting ready to make the technological jump into the virtual reality world that science fiction authors first imagined in November 2021.
Larger corporations dabbling in metaverse technology
Disney is hardly the first media business to use such technology. Studios including Sony, Warner Bros., and Lionsgate produced NFTs in 2021, which are digital artifacts tied to their films.
Jason Kilar, a former CEO of WarnerMedia, made some suggestions earlier this year regarding the creation of interactive worlds where Harry Potter enthusiasts might really live and breathe the wizarding world. Sony’s CEO, Kenichiro Yoshida, stated in April that the company wants to strengthen its ties with the metaverse community.
Warner Music Group said in January that a virtual concert with performances by Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Dua Lipa, Cardi B, and other artists would soon be launched in The Sandbox metaverse.
