Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, said on Friday afternoon that a new content moderation council would be made up of people with “widely different points of view.”

Musk wrote, “Twitter will be forming a content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints. No major content decisions or account reinstatements will happen before that council convenes.”

Musk’s announcement comes just hours after he fired some of the most important people at Twitter.

Musk’s first steps as the owner of Twitter were to fire the CEO, Parag Agrawal, the CFO, Ned Segal, and the head of legal policy, trust, and safety, Vijaya Gadde.

Many people thought that his ownership would make it possible for accounts like Donald Trump and Babylon Bee to be brought back right away, but it looks like this will have to wait.

Musk told advertisers in a letter he sent out Thursday that Twitter is “important to the future of civilization.” He called it a “digital town square” where people with different ideas can talk about them without getting violent.

Muck went on to say, “Twitter obviously cannot become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences.”
“In addition to adhering to the laws of the land, our platform must be warm and welcoming to all, where you can choose your desired experience according to your preferences, just as you can choose, for example, to see movies or play video games ranging from all ages to mature.”
