Winning key on Yuga Labs Dookey Dash receives $1.1M bid on OpenSea
A group of NFT fans has put a whopping $1.1 million bid on the winning key from the endless runner game Dookey Dash by Yuga Labs. They want to get their hands on the key so they can win the game.
The current owner of the key, 18-year-old Fortnite streamer Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson, has not yet accepted the winning bid from the group UpDAO.
Mongraal put his most valuable NFT on the market for 2,222 ETH, which is about $3.5 million. UpDAO is linked to Pixel Vault’s upcoming Web3 game, Inhabitants Universe, which will use NFT characters. It has put in a bid of 690 WETH, which stands for “wrapped ether” (which can then be converted to ETH or another equivalent asset).
A DAO is a group of people who get together online, put money in a shared wallet, and vote on how to spend that money. UpDAO has a community fund with about $24.4 million in it, so this bid is about 5% of its total assets.
Mongraal has about 48 hours to decide whether to take the deal or not.
The head of communications at PixelVault, David “Economist” Litsky, said that the community does have plans for the Dookey Dash key if UpDAO is able to get it.
“PV is building a decentralized, open-source gaming protocol.”
“Community rumors say that they might vote to give this 1/1 asset as a prize for games based on the protocol, which would help spread knowledge,” Litsky said.
Yuga Laboratories hasn’t said what the Sewer Pass rewards are yet, but some community members think that each key will unlock a mech or wearable robot suit in Yuga’s future Otherside metaverse game.
Dookey Dash can’t be played the way it used to be. During the life of the game, some Sewer Pass NFT holders paid thousands of dollars to have “boosters” play on their accounts to try to get a high score. Yuga spoke out against cheating in the game in a number of tweets and public statements.
Yuga fans are currently playing the “Toad” game mode, and the popularity doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. Mongraal has even told the public that he will play on other people’s accounts in the new game to help them get higher scores if they pay him. Recent changes to Mongraal’s wallet show that he may charge 2.6 ETH ($4,150) for boosts.
